Thrown Out Of Business
By Walter J.
I found your webpage after searching for some alternatives to paypal. I have been selling on ebay for 8 years with a feedback rating of over 15000 and 99.2%. I had always a good standing with both ebay and paypal. Recently, a good friend asked me to accept some payments from his family member from Venezuela via paypal. They would like to purchase some jewelry from me, and I shoud give them the difference back in dollars. I know the people all personally and would never have put myself or paypal at risk of a chargeback with strangers.
I did accept about $5000 in total and returned to them about $3000 in cash back. Shortly after these transactions, I received an email after I withdrew over $3000 from my account asking me for inventory sheets for proof of inventory. I did. I have over $50 000 worth of bills from suppliers. I told them it was a pick up, and there were no shipping documents.
My account was limited at that point with about $90 left. A few days before my account had over $4000 in it. I paid my ebay sellers fees of $3900 before my account was limited. After a few days, I noticed that my payments to ebay were cancelled, and paypal took the money back from ebay back into my limited paypal account and froze it up.
I appealed 4 times already telling them it was a mistake with no bad intentions, and the violation of user agreement 9.0 I was not aware of. I told them how sorry I was, and it was just a bad mistake and gave them numerous references regarding my person including some personal friendship with a foreight secretary of state and top official of major world bank. They don't care. I received an email telling me that my appeal is denied, and that they no longer want a business relationship with me. This is after 8 years with over 40,000 good paypal transactions.
I was overnight thrown out of business on ebay with thousands of auctions up noting that I accept paypal. I had lots of angry buyers refusing to purchase from without paypal. You can imagine what a mess I had. Most buyers never paid. Needless to say, the best advice to anyone. Don't get caught by surprise. Get ready set up your merchants account or whatever else you can as an alternative.
I, never in my life, thought I would get into such troubles for doing someone a favor. I have been an honest person all my life. I worked hard to be successful, and now this. I will never ever forgive them as they will not forgive me either.
The last email I received from paypal was an email informing me that they were contacting a buyer I had a non receipt dispute with about 5 month ago for the amount of $9.50. His name was Mohammed.
